The Ultimate Disc (UD) Series
The UD Series represents our premium, handcrafted product, available in two versions.
The Collector’s Edition UDC
A 24 K gold disc, certified to be under 10 Averaged Block Error Rate, RCC (Resonance Control Coated), and individually numbered for quality control. These discs are available at the usual sales outlets, with the production quantity of each title limited to 1,000 units.
Direct-from-Master Edition UDM
A 24 K gold disc, each handcrafted by dubbing directly from the hard drive; hence, this is in fact a second master: the ultimate quality a consumer can buy. The UDM is RCC coated and is checked and certified to have an Averaged Block Error Rate of less than 3, with two certificates showing the spectrum curves of the block error, the C1, C2, and C3 rates of a particular disc. It is individually numbered and printed with the name of the customer; a special code is added to enable the tracing of piracy. The production quantity of each title is 50. Because these discs are of a quality which can be used for production, customers are requested to submit a subscription form for approval before a UDM is made available directly from FIM.
